頭三位﹐自己比較常聽的是Beatles及Elvis Presley. Beatles於1967年的經典大碟Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band內的Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise)/A Day in the Life是自己的All Time Favorites. A Day In The Life一曲﹐其實可以說是由兩首歌組成﹐歌曲變化甚多﹐另一個特別的地方是最後一個chord長達53秒。在當時的年代都算好搞野。

香港稱他為貓王的Elvis﹐是自己聽得較多的另一位.自己初聽Rock 'N' Roll﹐便是先聽他的了。
1935年1月8日出生於Mississippi﹐卒於Memphis1977年8月16日。那年雖然還未接觸他的歌曲﹐當年的電視新聞傳來他的死訊﹐猶有點印象。.
不知怎樣介紹他﹐但是當年他的狂野形像在50年代,確實前衛﹐特別是一名白人唱起黑人的blues來。
其後﹐他也拍起電影來﹐當然﹐那個年代﹐他的電影沒有甚麼特別﹐形像是千遍一律的多情種子﹐有點反叛及不羈﹐一大群女孩的白馬王子等等。他的電影無片不歌﹐所以他的唱片除了早期的Blues及Rock 'N' Roll外﹐中期便是每張十多首歌的電影原聲大碟。這時一首一首的經典情歌便接踵面來了。
電影Blue Hawaii內的經典Can't Help Falling In Love便是Elvis對女主角的祖母獻唱的情歌。

1978年許冠傑為紀念Elvis之死﹐而把他多首經典﹐翻成廣東歌收錄在財神到大碟中作致敬。包括:

他去世年25年後﹐RCA唱片找來他的一首舊歌 A Little Less Conversation﹐由名混音師再來一個現代版本的Remix﹐歌曲仍然打上美國流行榜冠軍﹐多年來多如恆沙的精選碟﹐數之不盡﹐但舊歌再加上這首REMIX新曲便又一次大賣了﹐都可算厲害。

另一個經典會是Everly Brothers。他們分別是Don及Phil Everly。
聽Michael叔叔說﹐他們的二部合唱﹐影響了整個樂壇﹐更深深影響了60年代的Simon & Garfunkel。他們的雙親Ike & Margaret是Country歌手﹐而兄弟倆的歌唱風格揉合了Country﹐Pop及Rock N Roll。五十年代中﹐他們就遷到Nashbille﹐深深受到Rock N Roll的吸引﹐1957年憑著首張細碟Bye Bye Love打上了美國流行榜第2位﹐並停留該位置4星期﹐接下來的第二張細碟Wake Up Little Suzie﹐打上第一位﹐並停留了4星期。
七個月後第四張細碟﹐也是我們很熟悉的All I Have To Do IS Dream停留榜首5星期﹐從此他們的歌唱事業﹐便平步青雲。八十年代Bee Gees的弟弟Andy Gibb與豪門恩怨的女主角Victoria Principle打得火熱時﹐也曾灌錄此曲。

他們除了上列的歌曲外﹐還有Devoted To You﹐Take A Message To Mary﹐Till I Kissed You﹐Let It Be Me等等。1960年由Cadence唱片轉投Warner Brothers唱片的懷抱﹐聽說﹐他們是Warner唱片的第一個藝人。這時期便有我們很熟識的Crying In The Rain了﹐但自此事業便不像早期那樣輝煌了。

八十年代﹐從港台一個舊歌節目聽來﹐當時的主持人便曾說﹐他們兄弟倆因意見分歧而拆夥﹐最後落得在報紙上﹐刊登一段小廣告教結他。84年Everly Brothers復合﹐簽約Mercury公司﹐並由Paul McCartney寫了一首On The Wings Of A Nightingale給他們﹐但兩張大碟的合約滿了之後﹐他們便沒有再出新碟了。 最近Simon & Garfunkel的concert便請來他們作特別嘉賓。
香港時有很多人翻唱他們的熱門作品﹐但卻甚少彈奏及演唱他們的風格。例如Devoted To You便較像後期Carly Simon和James Taylor的版本﹐而Crying In The Rain, 便較像70年代初的一隊One Hit Wonder組合Peter Paul & Marty的版本了。

另一位搖擺巨星﹐便是Buddy Holly, 生於1936年, 與Big Bopper, Ritchie Valens死於一場1959年的空難, 享年只是22歲. Don McLean的American Pie便是向他致敬。

其實除左無queen﹐無eagles﹐仲無選eric clapton同santana呢。

唔算santana情有可原﹐（雖然santana係我第二最愛）但無選eric clapton實在真係一個大問題。唔同係英國出生既佢真係入唔到殿堂﹖話晒都係一代結他之神呢。

另外無稔到elton john排名會咁後﹐billy joel直頭無名……

話說你講開Billy Joel﹐我喜歡他的歌不太多﹐大概20首之內吧﹐但我所想提及的是一首﹐可能不是熱門歌吧﹐但卻是很有特色。很多年前﹐港台DJ伍家廉的一個訪問節目﹐找來一位當紅歌手﹐並請他推介他的一首至愛金曲﹐當日的嘉賓是林子祥﹐他便介紹了Billy Joel以下的一首歌。來自77年Strangers大碟內的Scenes From An Italian Restaurant﹐其後買來1985年出版收錄這歌的Billy Joel - Greatest Hits Vol. 1-2 CD至今﹐對這歌仍甚為喜愛。不知怎的﹐90年代﹐聽了林憶蓮的“芝加哥的故事” ﹐直覺上總有點類同。

佢係少數我為左找一首佢既歌而落真金買左你提過既精選碟當中。
當時無減價﹐所以盛惠３０美金。
我想找既歌叫《The Longest Time》﹐係純人聲演譯﹐
絕對係想唱accapella者值得參考既歌。

既然買左隻碟﹐當然要聽過夠本。
結果俾我發現除左成名作《Piano Man》﹐
以前歐陽德勛成日播既《Just The Way You Are》外﹐
尚有一首係我Top Three English Songs Favorite。
就係《She's Always The Woman》。

如果想聽billy joel者﹐《She》係我既必定推介﹐
溫拿原來都翻唱過﹐由譚詠麟演譯﹐總覺得欠了一點……
