I've taken an EMI course in the HKIEd three years ago,
in that course I've shared the song 'Don't Laugh At Me'
mentioned above by Dear Uncle Michael with my
classmates, when I returned to shcool, I've also shared
the song 'A Man Of Constant Sorrow' with my students.
Both songs are suitable for F.2 students as the lyrics are
simple. The lyrics of the song 'Don't Laugh At Me' can be
found in the other thread 'Peter Yarrow, 和諧校園音樂會
(2005年四月四日，香港新伊利沙伯體育館)', I just post
the lyrics of the song 'A Man Of Constant Sorrow' here
for your reference. In fact, there are a number of songs
from Peter, Paul and Mary for you to choose, they can
be understood easily by F.2 students, for example,
'Where Have All The Flowers Gone', 'The Cruel War', etc.

Just want to thank my friends for helping me with the 2nd folk gathering held in my school on 29/4/05.

I would like to thank Chris and Billy for coming again, and I'm very pleased to have Derek with us this time. Haha.. What a wonderful ABCD Folk Club.

I don't really have time to conclude the information provided by my students. I gave them a survey form to fill in after the gathering, and they wrote down their favourite songs and comments.

Chris, thanks for bringing along your camera. Would you please post a few of the photos taken that day to share our happiness with our friends here.

One more time, a million thanks.

Would like to hear some feedbacks from your students. How much do they really enjoy folk music? How would they relate the lyrics with daily English? Would the impact be sustainable? Anyhow, it's worth doing that as long as we believe in folk music.

I use English songs quite often to teach. But that's long time ago. Students are changed, and culture is ever-changing too. I think the effectiveness really depends on the choice of songs, the mood, the rapport, the learning habits, the charisma of the teacher, .... well there're plenty other factors.

Anyway, really appreciate ABCD!!!
