近年﹔朋友、電台和大眾都在批評、力鑑香港的音樂已死。 但﹔今次 通過 近年的 ‘原音比賽’ 她實實在在地告訴大家，我們本土的音樂根本沒有如一眾所說的，早已凋萎。 反之﹔我覺得她們是正在不同的土壤下，一步一步地盛開中。

今天，大家聆聽音樂、好歌，有很多方法。如果我們的眼睛、耳朵只是單向一方，可能真的會看不到、聽不見世間更多的好歌和美事。 要聽好音樂，我想大家都應該向前放眼多一點。

又，在比賽當天，再一次欣賞到 Henry & Richard 的表演，我個人覺得精彩萬分﹔記憶中，技巧感覺尤勝當年的 Too Young to be Marriage (我在七十年代中，過聽不下三數次他們的表演)。 但可能時代不同，而 The Hollies 當年的音樂處理手法在今天也許真的不大討好﹔單以 Allan Clarke和當年 Graham Nash式的，以力、以放的高音和唱，面對近年愛樂朋友們，對樂曲需要多樣化伴奏等的品味要求，再加上參賽者的水準實在平均高得可以，"Marigold / Gloria Swansong" 使我個人覺得真的有點兒被忽畧了。 但以歌、以表演，以我個人的感受，再一次說 Henry & Richard ‘精彩萬分’。

Thanks for sharing! I start to realise the reason for the professional performance of most of the groups in the show because they are in fact the professional musicians. The girl looks sweet too by the close shot!!!

The Renfrew Group(won the third prize) are also very experienced musicians. The girl, Anna, who played percussion is indeed professional.

Anna started playing the piano at the age of 3 and studied with Tino Maxwell and Grace Lau. In 2001 she obtained her Grade 8 Piano Certificate from the Trinity College of Music (London) with distinction and was invited to perform at the 1st Hong Kong Music Rendezvous, organized by the Trinity College of Music (London). Anna later graduated from HKBU majoring in Performance and Pedagogy (Total Percussion) under the instruction of Rebecca Ng. During her school years Anna was already an experienced percussion tutor and arranged some of her own percussion ensemble pieces. In 2006 Anna went to USA to continue her studies at the Berklee College of Music and by 2007, she was awarded the Best Improved Drummer award by the percussion department, of which only 12 students among the whole department were selected. Anna is also an active performer on the pop/jazz music scene, having been the leader of the HKBU Jazz Band, percussionist in numerous wind bands and orchestras, and member of the pop ensemble Maz which won the silver prize of the 2005 Soundbase competition held by Tom Lee. She is now the drummer and also band leader of local jazz ensemble Renfrew Group.

i think that's why the bassist got the best performers award.

Thanks for the sharing!! Philipinoes are really talented in singing. Her voice is sweet and her guitar playing is free but I like her live playing in the soundbase competition rather than the MP3 recording. Live playing is much powerful, she really deserved to be the champion.

Joves is a singer/songwriter of English songs that are a mix of jazz/bossa nova/contemporary pop/rock.

When she was four, her Filipino parents moved from the Philippines to Hong Kong, where she and her siblings, 2 brothers and a sister, grew up and learned to speak fluent Cantonese, in a city they call home.
Her father, Johnny Fuego, was a brilliant and well-respected Jazz pianist during the 70's and 80's in Hong Kong. In 2001, he died of lung cancer at the age of sixty-one. Her mother, Vilma, was a singer on the radio in southern Philippines, in the late 50's.
At the age of eleven, Joves was caught, by her father, trying to sneak out of the house to audition in a local talent contest. After much wailing and crying, he personally took her to the audition and even played her audition song on the piano. She impressed the judges enough to get into the semi-finals. Her father continued to support her by taking her to nightclubs and venues to rehearse. However, on the day of the semi-finals, she choked and didn't get through to the finals. Unperturbed, she decided to try her hand at playing the guitar, but the process only led to her abandoning all hope of ever becoming a musician.
Many years later, her father's death forced her to reflect on her lost goals and reminded her that there was more to life than simply paying the bills. She picked up the guitar again in August 2003, quit her job, and obsessively played 10-18 hours a day for eight months, which culminated in the creation of some unique acoustic originals, that are a fusion of jazz, bossa nova, contemporary and alternative pop, rock, & folk.
She recently formed her own band and played together with bass/guitar player Chris Collins (Beats Working) & drummer Lego Shum (from Helter Skelter) at a Benefit Gig and have since played at the Rockit 2006 Music Festival in Hong Kong Victoria Park, with percussionist Barney Bruce. Her most recent show was at "Edge" for Underground 38! with Mike Salcedo on drums (from Shepherds the Weak) and Chris Collins on bass, with special guest Joseph Fuego on the trombone.
She's currently recording her first album in the studio which should be released in July 2007.

正如Mel Sir、Frankie和阿Sum所說，昨晚有多隊參賽隊伍的演出水準是十分之高，而獲獎的組合確是實至名歸！

香港原來仍然有很多有水準的音樂愛好者，昨晚大部份都是原創歌曲，其中不乏上佳作品，各有不同風格，不同題材，百花齊放！

而大家認識的Henry & Richard及Band Natural的演出十分之精彩，個人很喜歡Band Natural所創作的藍天空，歌曲旋律優美，歌詞內容是描寫環保及反戰信息，十分有意思，希望他們繼續努力和加油！

昨晚的水準真的很高, 非常精彩的一個音樂活動.

很高興香港仍然有這麼多的業餘音樂愛好者, 很用心的玩一些非商業性的音樂.

冠軍的一男一女組合Joves, 女主音唱得好, 結他彈得好, 歌作得好, 彈Bass 的也很精彩, 技驚四座, 是冠軍的必然之選.

亞軍的四人組合D'Hat, 玩了一首Latin style的自作歌, 風格很討好, 主音唱得好, 樂器彈得好. 我覺得是除冠軍那隊之後最好的一隊. 不過主音結他solo時音量略細.

季軍的五人組合Renfrew group, 也很有特色, 玩節奏的朋友為樂隊加分不少, 男主音聲也很好. 入圍也是意料之內.

我們的朋友Band Natural, 水準也很高, 相信應是五名之內.

很好看的一個決賽.
