Yes, during the early day, America used "Martin". Later they used "Ovation". Luckily that I watched their concert 20 years ago in Hong Kong that I saw Gerry played a 12-string Ovation in playing "Horse with no name". Wonderful!!! Nowadays, just watched a recent DVD in Uncle Michael's home that they used Taylor and Gerry picked a Fender 12-string electric to play "Horse with No name" solo. May be it is really a hard-job for an old man to play 12-string accoustic law!!!

Anyway, America is still one of my favourites, I still remember the scene that we played "Riverside", "Ventura Highway", "Sandman" in the past. Good old day!!!

很多謝Dear Chrishui及Dear Vincent多事人給我們分享'America'這一隊很有代表性的Folk-Rock經典樂隊. 有機會的話也很想能夠欣賞Dear Chris的這一張'America' Concert DVD

America樂隊的這一張History: America's Greatest Hits就是當年我們很多朋友們必有的一張唱片集,在那個時候,Michael叔叔就非常記得有三張在差不多同時期的精選Greatest Hits都是我們喜歡音樂的朋友必有的,湊巧地這三張唱片封套都不約而同地用純白色底的,分別就是Crosby Stills, Nash & Young在1974年推出的'So Far', America在1975年推出的這張History: America's Greatest Hits及James Taylor在1976年推出的James Taylor: Greatest Hits.

雖然這張唱片是叫做History: America's Greatest Hits,其實只是America樂隊的第五張唱片. 也如Dear Vincent提到, America的三位成員 Gerry Beckley, Dewey Bunnell及Dan Peek都是在英國London長大的美國人,他們的父親都是駐守在London的美國空軍人員,在London讀中學時他們三位巳有夾Band唱歌及自己有創作, 'I Need You'是Gerry Beckley在16歲時所寫的,而America的經典'A Horse With No Name'就是Dewey Bunnell在18歲時所寫..........

America的第一張同名唱片America就應是在1971年在英國灌錄的，很受歡迎，跟著他們就決定返回美國作發展，開始了一連串的演唱會，在1972年就推出了他們的第二張唱片'Homecoming'，就是代表著他們返回美國了..........在同年的1972年America就得到音樂奧斯卡Grammy Award格林美獎的The Best New Artist獎項........

也如Dear Vincent所講到，America的A Horse With No Name確就很有Neil Young的Feel，原來當年1972年把Neil Young的全美No.1歌曲'Heart Of Gold'打低成為跟著的全美冠軍歌曲的就是America的這首'正'歌'A Horse With No Name'........在網上也有人張'A Horse With No Name'當作是Neil Young的作品吧........

也許有些朋友們可能會留意到，America在Warner Brothers華納時代的1971年至到1977年所推出的唱片，除了1971年的第一張大碟America及1977年的演唱會錄音大碟America : Live，所有的唱片都是用一個字頭'H'字作唱片集的名稱，這個時候也就是America三人組合的時代，跟著當然就是Dan Peek己離隊，剩下Gerry Beckley及Dewey Bunnell兩人的America，這7張連續America的'H'字頭唱片就是:

1972年 Homecoming
1973年 Hat Trick
1974年 Holiday
1975年 History
1975年 Hearts
1976年 Hideaway
1977年 Harbor
