Re: 早期blues和南音 Thank you very much Derek. I didn’t know about the History of Jazz in youtube until you pointed it out. Had a very brief look at the 1/111 and thought there must be so much information and materials to learn. This is in fact fantastic.
I completely agree on everything said in 1/111 especially about jazz being an authentic art. I couldn’t agree more as I enjoy very much blues and jazz music. When I mentioned controversial, most probably I was feeling that the words “UNLIKE ALL OTHER folk musics in the world” were a bit too subjective, definite and strong leaving no compromise at all and hence controversial. In fact, somehow, like “Stranger”, I was immediately thinking of Flamenco at that particular time. I watched a DVD of “Manitas de Plata” going through his 80th birthday over the last weekend at my friend’s home. That reminded me how gypsies make music and make Flamenco and I thought it could be similar to how jazz people jam together. In using those words, I wonder if there is any implication that jazz is the ONLY folk music that can blossom or have blossomed into an authentic art and no other folk music can do it. Anyway, art is very personal and if that’s the way he thinks, that’s the way he thinks. I still think the Jazz history will give me a good chance to learn more about the music and is most valuable. I will continue to watch it and learn more. Thank you again. Rod |
