Arpeggios (arps) are very important in constructing solos and fill-ins. Have you tried the four-notes arps, that is, arps consisting of four notes. There are 4 basic four-notes arps which are Maj7 arps, Min7 arps, Dom7 arps and Dim7 arps.

For example, ask a friend to play the chords for "Today" in key of C, that is C, Am, Dm, G7. Then you play the CMaj7 arp against the C chord, Am7 arp against Am, Dm7 arp against Dm, and G7 arp against G7. A beautiful tune can then be constructed.
